Описание: Luke’s Gospel is alone among the four Gospels in having a preface in which the evangelist addresses the person to whom he has dedicated the work. Theophilus, it would seem, is Luke’s patron, sponsoring his literary enterprise, or perhaps he’s a disciple and Luke intends to instruct him in the Christian faith through the Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles. The Lectionary then jumps from the beginning of the Gospel to the beginning of Jesus public ministry. Luke begins the public ministry of Jesus with his return to Nazareth. Jesus had moved to the town of Capernaum on the northern shore of the lake of Galilee. In today’s Gospel he returns home to Nazareth and goes to the local synagogue. When handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah, Jesus reads a few verses, and then sits down. He then says, “Today this text is fulfilled in your hearing.”
