This is a Crompton Parkinson “Sutlej” ceiling fan, a true vintage masterpiece from the golden era of Indian fan manufacturing. The nameplate proudly says “Bombay, India”, which means this fan was made before Bombay officially became Mumbai (1995) — most likely in the 1960s–70s.

The word “Sutlej” comes from the Sutlej River, one of the five historic rivers of Punjab. Crompton Parkinson often named their fans after Indian rivers (Sutlej, Kaveri, Ganga) as a tribute to India’s rich heritage. This gave each fan model a unique identity, rather than just a technical number.
