Welcome to Ellerslie in Auckland on a cloudy spring day. One of Auckland's central suburbs, it is largely residential suburb and is arguably best-known as the site of Auckland's main horse-racing venue, Ellerslie Racecourse.
Ellerslie also has a railway station which serves the Southern and Onehunga Lines of the Auckland railway network
The walk begins on Main Highway near Ramsgate Street St and up past the main Ellerslie Village shops. From there we keep on up Main Highway towards the Southern Motorway.
Nearby suburbs are: Remuera, Meadowbank, Orakei, St Johns, Kohimarama, Greenlane, One Tree Hill,
Mount Wellington, Oranga, Penrose and Sylvia Park.
