iPad Tips for Using Goodnotes 6 App with Your Digital Planner
1. Swipe Left with Apple Pencil/Finger – Take a Quick Screenshot
Use your Apple Pencil or finger to swipe diagonally from the bottom-left corner of your screen to instantly capture a screenshot. Perfect for saving a specific planner page, sticker layout, or inspiration you want to keep handy. Tap the screenshot preview to crop, annotate, or save it to your planner or Photos.
2. Swipe Right from Bottom Corner – Launch Quick Notes
Swipe up from the bottom-right corner with your finger or Apple Pencil to open Quick Notes. This is handy for jotting down ideas or reminders without leaving your planner. Quick Notes can even pull in content from the app you’re using, like a sticker or a link.
3. Resize the On-Screen Keyboard with a Pinch Gesture
Pinch with two fingers on the floating keyboard to make it larger or smaller—great for comfortably typing notes or to-dos in compact planner spaces. You can also tap the keyboard icon to dock or undock it depending on your writing style.
4. Long Press on an Image – Use ‘Image Cutout’ Tool
Tap and hold on any image (like a sticker or photo), then use the “Image Cutout” option to automatically remove the background. This makes your digital stickers or imported content look clean and professional. Tip: This works best on images with good contrast.
Bonus Tips for Power Users:
5. Split View for Multitasking
Use Split View to open Goodnotes 6 on one side and Safari, Files, or another app on the other. Drag and drop images, notes, or references straight into your planner pages.
6. Use the Lasso Tool Wisely
Use the Lasso Tool to move, resize, or copy handwritten notes and stickers. Tap and hold inside your lassoed selection to see more options like "Take Screenshot," "Convert to Text," or "Resize."
7. Search Handwritten Notes
Goodnotes 6 can search your handwritten text! Make sure handwriting recognition is enabled in settings. This makes it super easy to find old notes or entries.
8. Add Custom Templates or Pages
Long press in the thumbnail view → "Add Page" → choose from custom planner templates or duplicate existing pages to create your own sections.
9. Drag and Drop from Files or Photos
Simply drag images, files, or stickers from the Files or Photos app and drop them directly into Goodnotes. Great for adding visual content to your journal or planner.
