Fagersta Norra - Västerås C [TDV0023]

Описание: This time we travel from Fagersta Norra to Västerås Central just before the summer ends and autumn takes over. The trees are still green and the windscreen is still covered in bugs.
Our first stop i Fagersta Central, this station was originally called Västanfors but was renamed in 1947 after the two municipalities Fagersta and Västanfors was merged into one.
Just as many other lines in the Bergslagen area, this one was also built to accommodate the rich mining industry in the area. The old iron mill in Ängelsberg has a history that stretches back at least to the 1300s and is now a World Heritage Site.
The Ludvika-Kolbäck line was originally two different lines, Ludvika-Tillberga and Ramnäs-Kolbäck. The latter of these lines is torn up today, but I believe it veered of to the left at 0:33:00 just after we pass through Brattheden station.
In 1991 the line Ramnäs-Kolbäck was upgraded and electrified to accommodate new commuter trains. A new platform was built in Ramnäs and the station with the same name was renamed and is now called Brattheden. And for the first time since the 1960s passenger trains was stopping in Surahammar and Hallstahammar again.
