Acting on a complaint filed by Sahil Lochab, the Delhi Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with the alleged pellet gun firing incident. Lochab was injured during the protest at Jantar Mantar. After the FIR was registered, Rahul Gandhi said, "This is the first step towards justice. The case has been lodged. We arrived at 11:30 AM, and the FIR was registered at a quarter to seven. If this is happening in Delhi, just imagine what must be happening in a village. Even here, Amit Shah ji had to give the final approval."
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, complainant Sahil Lochab said, "Rahul Gandhi and his team had been helping me without any media coverage. When I spoke to them a day or two ago, I mentioned that my FIR was not being lodged. They then suggested we meet and go get the FIR registered."
"I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for helping me. This is a victory for justice. This FIR is the first step towards it."
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had staged a sit-in protest outside the Sansad Marg police station in Delhi. He demanded that an FIR be registered based on the written police complaint submitted by Sahil Lochab.
Accusing Rahul Gandhi of the politics of anarchy, the BJP has asked, "Does he not respect the law?"
Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "The most significant aspect is that the aggrieved parties approached the Supreme Court, and the Court itself has constituted a high-powered committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge."
