Despite their immense size and boundless energy, thoroughbred horses require regular release of this energy. In the case of our beloved Iscreamuscream, the best course of action was to retire her from competitive racing. While she continued to exhibit promising training performances, she was plagued by recurring, albeit non-career-ending, injuries that hindered her ability to maintain her current level of training.
Iscreamuscream’s racing career was marked by remarkable achievements, and she remains our most successful filly to date. In her short racing career our daughter of Twirling Candy (Candy Ride) won 4 of 5 races, two of them being graded stakes, was the Del Mar horse of the meet and won a total purse money of $381,000.00. The primary reason for our decision to purchase fillies was their potential as brood mares at the end of their racing careers. Having a filly like Iscreamuscream, with her exceptional resume, presented an extraordinary opportunity.
Recognizing her market potential, we entered Iscreamuscream into the Fasig-Tipton Winter Mix sale, where she was promptly recognized as the marquee horse. Her pre-qualification to breed to the esteemed stallion “Not This Time” further heightened her value status among the worlds top breeders.
The auction commenced with an opening bid of $500,000.00, crossed the reserve shortly after, which promptly rose in increments of $100,000.00 until the auctioneer dropped the hammer at a staggering $1,500,000.00. This remarkable outcome left us overjoyed, and we are confident that Iscreamuscream will embark on a new career as a mother.
