Tunnel Breakthrough at Tughlakabad Railway Colony Metro Station Golden Line, in New Delhi.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved a significant milestone in its Phase 4 expansion by completing the tunnelling work for the deepest underground stretch of the Golden Line, which runs between Aerocity and Tughlakabad. This achievement was marked by a tunnel boring machine (TBM) breakthrough at the IGNOU station site.
The Golden Line, part of Delhi Metro's Phase 4 expansion, will enhance connectivity between southern parts of Delhi, linking the existing Violet Line at Tughlakabad with the Airport Express Line at Aerocity. The underground section of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor spans 19.34 kilometers, contributing to the overall 40.1 kilometers of underground lines being developed in Phase 4.
This development is expected to significantly improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and provide a reliable mode of transportation for commuters in the region.
