Let's see how to make Karuvepillai Thuvaiyal
Ingredients:
Curry leaves - 1 cup
Red chillies - 4-5
Toor dal - 3 tbsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Grated coconut - 3 tbsp
Rock salt - as required
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Garlic pods - 7-8 pods
Pepper cons - 1 tsp
Tamarind - Gooseberry size
Method:
In a pan add 1 tbsp oil + Red chillies + Toor dal
Roast it till it turns slight brown + add garlic pods + saute for few mins and add 1 cup curry leaves + mix all ingredients together
Don't overcook it as it will lose the flavor and color of the curry leaves
Add tamarind + grated coconut mix well.
Let it cool transfer the ingredients to a mixer jar add required rock salt + cumin seeds and turmeric powder.
Dry grind all the ingredients in mixie then add water (do not add much) and grind again. Keep checking till you get the right consistency. It should not be too thick and too runny.
That's it Karuvepillai thuvaiyal is ready!
