This is one of the snacks I go for when I crave something sweet.
The natural sweetness of bananas can satisfy sugar cravings without the need for added or artificial sugars or sweeteners.
For a long time I feared eating bananas, because I thought they are “the bad’’ food that contains a lot of sugars. However, bananas, while naturally sweet, are a nutrient-dense fruit and surprisingly have a moderate glycemic index.
Both bananas and oats are rich in dietary fiber. Fiber promotes a feeling of fullness and supports our digestive system.
As always it is all about the balance. Adding nuts to this recipe slows down release of sugars and helps prevent rapid blood sugar spikes and crashes.
And adding a little bit of crushed dark chocolate will just make you feel happy!
