Punch the baby macaque, who went viral for clinging to a stuffed toy orangutan after being abandoned by his mother, has found a new companion at Japan’s Ichikawa City Zoo.
He’s now been spotted playing, cuddling and hanging out with an older macaque named Momo-chan after months of being alone.
Clips of the pair have taken off online, with fans loving the development, though experts say it’s more like a big-sister bond than romance.
Punch’s long-trusted plush toy still appears in a few clips, however it is no longer the sole object of his affection.
Zookeepers say Punch is mixing more with the group, a positive sign he’s settling in.
