A full playthrough on Hard difficulty of Cobra Gunship, a helicopter side-scroller for Mac and DOS, by Elysium Digital in 1997.
This is version 1.3.3 of the Mac version, played in a modified QEMU to get working sound and video/audio/keyboard capture.
Played and recorded at 60*408/407 FPS (~60.147420 FPS). Slowed down to 60 FPS (and audio proportionally) for YouTube.
Each mission was recorded separately, except 14 and 15, which were recorded together. I sped up the loading screen in this video.
I modified the game binary and sound assets to implement the following changes:
Fixed unstable FPS, to run at a solid 30 (*408/407, because of Mac legacy) FPS. The game had a stupid, complicated, unnecessary, and ineffective floating-point algorithm for trying to run at 30 (*408/407) FPS which caused constant FPS fluctuations. This choppiness is visible in other Cobra Gunship videos.
Fixed broken sound saturation code. When sound got too loud, it would *wrap*, not clip. You can hear pop sounds when this happens in other Cobra Gunship videos.
Changed sound to output at 1/2 the original volume, for less/no clipping. (The game's Sound Volume setting in Audio Options sets hardware volume, not software mixing volume.)
Replaced nearest-neighbor interpolation in the sound mixing with a linear interpolation implementation.
Preconverted all game sounds to 8x the original sample rate (from 22050 Hz to 176400 Hz).

The game's difficulty affects only the damage you take: half damage on Easy, and double damage on Hard. On Hard, the damage from mines will kill you from max health.
Cash drops are random. If you play without retrying missions for more cash, you'll find yourself forced to buy mediocre upgrades just to progress, perpetuating your cash shortage into future missions. My strategy was to retry the first few missions until I collected enough cash to go straight for the Flame Thrower, best engine, and then best armor.
The weapons that are initially selected when starting a mission are the last ones you had selected in-game, or the last weapon/launcher you bought, and isn't stored to or loaded from your save file. (If I had continued onto Mission 30 directly after purchasing my final upgrades, I would have had Lasers/Heatseekers selected.)
When you start a mission, the direction you are facing and whether or not you are rotating and your initial number of invulnerability frames is carried forward from the last in-game state (the end of the last mission you played), UNLESS you load a game in between, in which case you start facing to the right, with about 2 seconds of invulnerability.
