এরপর বোতলের ঢাকনায় ছোট একটি ছিদ্র করুন, যাতে হাওয়া ঢুকতে পারে এবং পানির প্রবাহ সহজ হয়। আপনি চাইলে বোতলটির পাশে স্কেল চিহ্ন দিয়ে দিতে পারেন, যাতে বোঝা যায় দিনে কতটুকু পানি যাচ্ছে।

বোতলটি গাছের গোড়ায় কিছুটা মাটির মধ্যে বসিয়ে দিন, যাতে ছিদ্রগুলো মাটির নিচে থাকে। এরপর বোতলটি পানি দিয়ে পূর্ণ করুন। বোতলে থাকা পানি ধীরে ধীরে গাছের গোড়ায় চলে যাবে। এতে করে পানি অপচয় হয় না, এবং গাছ দীর্ঘসময় ধরে পর্যাপ্ত পানি পায়।

এই পদ্ধতি বিশেষ করে গ্রীষ্মকালে অত্যন্ত উপযোগী। কারণ তীব্র রোদে মাটি দ্রুত শুকিয়ে যায়, আর এই পদ্ধতিতে দিনে একাধিকবার পানি দিতে হয় না। এছাড়া যখন আপনি বাইরে যান বা ছুটিতে থাকেন, তখন গাছের যত্নে এটি কার্যকর সহায়ক হতে পারে।

এটি একটি পুনর্ব্যবহারযোগ্য উপায়ও বটে, কারণ ফেলে দেওয়া প্লাস্টিকের বোতল পুনরায় কাজে লাগানো হয়। এতে পরিবেশ দূষণও কিছুটা কমে আসে। আপনি চাইলে বোতলগুলো রঙ করে বা সুন্দরভাবে কেটে আরও নান্দনিক করতে পারেন।

Insert the bottle upside down or sideways into the soil near the plant's root area, ensuring the holes are beneath the soil surface. Fill the bottle with water. Over time, the water will slowly seep out through the holes and nourish the plant roots.

This technique is especially useful in summer when the soil dries out quickly. You don’t need to water the plants multiple times a day. The slow drip provides a consistent moisture level which is healthier for the plants.

It's also highly beneficial if you're away on vacation or can't tend to the garden daily. It ensures that your plants don’t suffer from dehydration during your absence.

Moreover, it's an eco-friendly technique. It promotes recycling by reusing plastic bottles that would otherwise contribute to pollution. You can even decorate or paint the bottles to make them look more aesthetically pleasing.

This watering method isn’t limited to potted plants. It can be used for larger garden plants as well. Just adjust the size and number of bottles based on the size and water needs of your plants.

Additionally, it can be used to harvest rainwater. Attaching a small funnel to the bottle’s mouth helps collect rainwater directly, which later seeps into the soil gradually.
