We spent the last five weeks looking at different things to collect and craft with - NOW we turn to new places and take you with us as we venture around the coast in search of FIVE NEW BEACHES!!
We begin close to the Village of Anstruther, where we told you about the Spanish Armada landing in Scotland. We've moved along the coast to a golden sandy beach at the head of a natural harbour area - the sea is glorious today; the waves collide with the rocky shoreline as the tide comes in on this beautiful sunny day! What a spectacular part of the coast this is!! Just stunning!!
Nicole finds some really nice sea glass here and Craig makes his 'find of the day' when he comes across an abandoned dog frisby! Wow! It even matches Nicole's red t-shirt!! The sea glass pickings are lovely, but slim, so we make our way across the cliff-top to the next bay along... Descending into this bay Nicole realises that it is the location of a Victorian Swimming Pool! It reminds us that it has almost been a year since we discovered that a nearby outdoor pool was under renovation - we must get back along to look at that soon!
Down in the Victorian pool, we find ourselves surrounded by sunbleached seashells - there are so many!! This is a bay of tiny pieces of sea glass - so we set about collecting them so that we can answer a question in our Sunday Craft Video - what can you do with tiny pieces of sea glass?
What? Another STAR find?? Its another class find for Craig when he spots this toy jet ski... Is it the best find of the day or does Nicole's last minute blue beauty win the day for her!?
Finding a stone with holes bored through it, Craig takes a closer look at how these holes were made and discovers a recently described Shipworm that eats through rocks!! Our stones were bored through by piddocks - a clam like, bio-luminescent, shellfish, which, according to Pliny, caused glow in the dark Roman feasts!!
We hope you enjoyed today's video... Thank you so much!
