Being in the middle of a great wilderness miles from civilization is a unique and personal experience. One morning while photographing the sunrise in the interior of Lake Clark National Park, I witnessed the clouds break and the morning light poured through. The surreal scene was magnificent. My oldest son and I were the only people for miles. It felt like we had a whole national park to ourselves. My heart was filled with Gratitude.

Allen Woodward of Anchorage Alaska built a cabin deep in the interior of Lake clark National Park where he would spend his summers. I imagine he experienced the pleasure of many great sunrises. I am thankful to have spent time in his backcountry gem and the spectacular sunrises I witnessed.
