Cervical Cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the cells of the cervix - the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina.
Various strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), play a role in causing most cervical cancers.
Symptoms of more advanced cervical cancers include vaginal bleeding, between periods or after menopause, watery, bloody vaginal discharge that may be heavy and have a foul odour or pelvic pain
Cervical Cancer can be cured and eliminated. Meeting the 90-70-90 targets by 2030 will put countries on a path to eliminating Cervical Cancer. That is if 90% of girls are fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by 15 years of age. 70% of women are screened using a high-performance test. 90% of women identified with cervical disease are treated.
