Bicholim, June 6: A late-night incident involving alleged firing, criminal intimidation and house trespass at Madhalawada, Shirgao, led to the arrest of two persons by Bicholim Police on Saturday.

According to police, a 66-year-old resident of Madhalawada lodged a complaint stating that on the night of June 5, two local residents allegedly conspired against him and his family, abused him over the phone and threatened to kill him.

Police said that when the complainant returned near his residence, one of the accused was allegedly waiting with a firearm and ammunition and is accused of firing a shot in his direction. The complainant reportedly escaped unharmed.

The complaint further alleges that the accused entered the complainant's house, where another shot was allegedly fired within the premises, creating panic among family members. The accused is also alleged to have threatened the complainant's wife with the firearm, forcing her to flee through the back door.

Investigators stated that the accused later allegedly entered a nearby residence while carrying the firearm and searching for another individual, causing fear among the occupants before fleeing the area.

Following registration of the case, police visited the scene and conducted a detailed panchanama. Both accused were subsequently traced, detained and formally arrested on Saturday morning.

Further investigation is underway.
