This is a “real-doc” style GoPro mission log from a first landing on Mars—0.38g movement, suit checks, habitat triage, rover deployment, radiation mapping… and a perfect circular depression that doesn’t look like geology.
Beneath the regolith we uncover a black, glass-smooth plate etched with geometric grooves—dust refuses to stick to it. Radiation readings form a timestamp wall around the site, and our onboard system (AURA) begins to lose—and replace—data. Then the printer spits messages it shouldn’t: “DO NOT INTERVENE.” “WAIT.” “SYNC WINDOW: NOW.”
In a dust storm at dusk, we align magnet-responsive “silver dust,” match pulse rhythms, and “knock” without touching. The seam opens—no hinges—revealing a sealed vault and a floating polyhedral artifact that pulses like coded language.
THE RED VAULT doesn’t open for curiosity. It opens on conditions. And when the numbers start lying, intent becomes the first suspect.
