Mongo got a Vice from Harbor Freight. Central Forge.
It been a pretty good vice, had it a couple years.
Problem is the hold down bolt for the rotation of the vice is no longer holding. Assume the threads pulled out.
Unthread the original bolt, looks like only 2 threads in the steel, or iron, whatever its made of.
If you want to fix your vice then THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO for you!
To fix this, need a short bolt, close length to original, but one that a little thicker. Mongo find one in the old GM spare bolts bin that look like it could work. 3/8in course thread. Need to tap the new threads. Be sure to tap the new threads straight and slow. New bolt fits good and hold the rotation good. could keep it this way but need a ratchet or wrench to tighten and loosen, so mongo going to make it a little easier. The head of the original has the little sliding arm thing and Mongo want to mount that to the new bolt. Use a cut off wheel to remove the head. Clean up the head of the new bolt and weld the original bolt head to the new bolt.
Now it kind of like the original setup.
Hopefully this video help you if your vice hold down breaks or pulls the threads out.
