Fishing in Ucluelet, Chinook Salmon Fishing on Vancouver Island 4K

Описание: In late August we were invited to go fishing with Salmon Eye Charters out of Ucluelet. It was a fun day on the water, we filled up our cooler and had a ton of laughs;

Fishing is a way of life from many in Ucluelet. Fishermen have plied their trade in these waters for eons. Before the commercial fleets started dwindling people flocked from around the world for the bounty the sea provides here.

Before that (and still today) the First Nations people of the region revered the fish, particularly the salmon, for the life they bring, not just to the people but to the ocean, streams and land.

Today a relatively small commercial fishing fleet continues to work the waters around Ucluelet.

These hardworking souls often live aboard their vessels for extended periods, braving long hours and cramped conditions to pull a living from the deadly seas of The Graveyard Of The Pacific.

I'm not one of those people, I'm what you might call a fair weather fisherman. I'm not particularly good at it If I'm honest I don't even like eating fish really...

BUT I'll take any chance I can get to get out on the water with some friends
and some help to handle all the complicated bits

That's where Sam comes in; A little while back in late August
Myself, my wife Tara and our friend Jen jumped on his boat and cast some lines just off the Ukee coast.
