IMPD has responded after a video went viral on social media of a vehicle fleeing after allegedly hitting a police officer and a security guard in downtown Indianapolis Saturday night.
IMPD Chief Tanya Terry said she saw the video circulating on social media Sunday morning from an incident on March 7 and it left her "angry and deeply disturbed."
"The footage shows a vehicle recklessly fleeing after striking a security guard," Terry said in a statement. "Shortly thereafter, it was confirmed that an IMPD officer was also hit by the same vehicle."
The officer is expected to recover, the chief said, and he didn't suffer "significant injuries."
