MACC records ex minister's statement over RM5mil bribe, Lamborghini gift

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has recorded a statement from a former minister over allegations of receiving a RM5 million bribe and a luxury vehicle.
The probe is linked to the approval of a land transfer and several projects in the city.
A source said the former minister allegedly received RM5 million from a developer and a Lamborghini from a billboard company.
The former minister went to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today, the source said.
The source said 16 witnesses, including government officials and company owners, have had their statements recorded for both cases.
When contacted, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the probe under Section 16 of the MACC Act for bribery.
The offence is punishable by a maximum 20-year jail term and a fine of not less than five times the value of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
Azam said no bank accounts have been frozen and no assets have been seized so far.
