The Five Stages:
Stage 1: Overdrive — Looks like ambition. Feels like effectiveness. Your body learns that pressure equals safety.
Stage 2: Emotional Narrowing — You're still functioning, but something has flattened. You don't feel deeply unhappy. You just don't feel alive.
Stage 3: Irritability & Control — Burnout becomes relational. Small things feel big. Control becomes the coping mechanism.
Stage 4: Exhaustion Without Collapse — You're tired in your bones, yet slowing down feels uncomfortable. Your body forgets how to relax.
Stage 5: Disconnect or Collapse — Thinking no longer works. Insight alone isn't enough. The system has hit its limits.
