The P53 Gene

Описание: The P53 gene is known as the "Guardian of the Genome," since it helps to prevent unregulated cell division. This gene produces a protein called p53 that acts as a tumor suppressor. The protein assesses the health of a cell and its DNA. When damage is detected, it takes part in the decision to stop the cell cycle in order to make repairs, or, if the damage is too extensive, it triggers the cell to die. This guardian gene is found to be mutated in over 50% of all human cancers.

This is a clip from a Lumination we produced for Pfizer, as part of a course for their employees. Pfizer needed to educate sales reps new to oncology. They requested an interactive course to elucidate the most abstract concepts in their prose-heavy manual. The course we developed, "Oncology 101," targets adults with different learning styles. The 90-minute course combines Luminations-style video segments, supplemental text hyperlinked to an interactive glossary of over 200 terms, fun knowledge checks, and "review" modes to help reinforce the learning.
