Raptor Conservation in Nepal

Описание: Nepal is a small country that lies between two giants, India and China, with a diverse landscape of great altitudinal variation between 76 m from sea level to the top of the world (The Everest). Due to this variation, as many as 60 species of raptors (resident and migrants) have been recorded including all the 9 species of vultures found in Asia. In Nepal, raptor conservation work has started when the catastrophic decline of vultures has started in the early 2000s. At present, Tulsi focuses on several species of raptors to preserve their declining population through research, education and conservation actions in participation with local people. His conservation projects include; community-managed vulture conservation activities, migration monitoring of raptors, raptor based ecotourism, impacts of powerlines on raptors, movement study of bearded vulture, Himalayan vulture, mountain hawk eagle, Indian spotted eagle and red-headed vulture.
