V's log Feb 8, 2022 6:20 AM; Current weather outside 58°F; Raining; Hi 59°F, Low 48°F
SUBJECTIVE: Dimorphorchis Orchid Collection: Lowii and Rossii
OBJECTIVE:
1. LOWII: She is grown from seeds. She is NBS. One of her visible root looks green at the tip and quite healthy. Two of her leaves have some black spots.
2. ROSSI: She is also grown from seeds. She is still a seedling. There is no visible black spots on her leaves.
ASSESSMENT: The weather outside is still cold (40s-60s°F), so she will stay inside the house, near the heater until then. Needs plenty of light. Ideally basketed (bare root or with large cork pieces) or mounted. Water and fertilize when dry, similar to vanda orchids.
TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENT: Warm season 70-90°F; Cooler season 64-87°F. When flowering, needs to be hang as high as possible due to pendant flower spikes.
PLAN: When the weather is warm again outside (70s°F +), I will place them both in a hanging basket to hang outside near the kichen.
