She says she filed her taxes through Liberty Tax about 2 months ago and says they didn't file it properly. Now she's left with unfiled taxes and she's out hundreds of dollars.I mean 632 dollars out of a 2300 dollar refund? That's a third of my refund, says Melissa Stewart.Melissa Stewart walked into Liberty Tax on West Walnut Avenue hoping to get the most out of this year's tax return. But she realized they made a big mistake. It's stapled in my packet and everything but it was not filed, says Stewart.Stewart says the tax preparer failed to include one of her two W-2's.The difference? Hundreds of dollars. She referred to the companies website for guidance and noticed a satisfaction guarantee, claiming the office will refund preparation fees if you're not 100 percent satisfied. But after Stewart tried getting her money back, the office refused, saying it's too late.They said if I would have said something the day that they filed it, they could have reduced the 632 dollars greatly but now there was nothing they could do about it, says Stewart.They're guaranteeing satisfaction if they will. But it appears from what you're telling me they made a mistake. She presented them with two W-2 forms and they only included one of them in the preparation, says Jim Winsett.Winsett works with the Better Business Bureau. He says hearing stories like Stewart's aren't that uncommon. He says in the future, the best thing any one can do ahead of time is research.With Liberty tax if I may, I looked at their mission statement and it's to be honest. It's to show respect and have integrity. If they're going to do each of those 3 things in the example that you've given me, then they should be responsive in doing that, says Winsett.Leaving many in Stewart's position hoping for good results.Winsett says Liberty Tax has an F rating in their system, mainly because he says the company doesn't respond to their complaints from consumers.NewsChannel9 tried contacting corporate for their side of the story, but as of Monday evening, we have not heard back.
