"Since my longing is as vast as the lake, I have no choice but to close my eyes."
Welcome to the Blue Hour Gallery.
Sometimes, a face becomes clearer when we close our eyes than when we face reality.
Today's 'Piece of Art' is dedicated to comforting that overwhelming sense of yearning.
For the 11th day, we present the refined lyricism of Jeong Ji-yong, a master of modern Korean poetry, alongside the dreamy and aesthetic style of John William Waterhouse, a leading figure of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Combined with Franz Schubert's "Nachtviolen" (Night Violets)—a lieder dedicated to a flower that blooms in the dark—we hope your quiet night lingers like a deep, transparent lake.
When your heart swells like a lake, do not try to suppress the waves. Instead, close your eyes and let yourself drift along the current. The feelings that stay by your side, even when unseen, will gently seep through the music and the canvas.

📜 Lake (Jeong Ji-yong, 1930)
Translated by Blue Hour Gallery
A single face keeps blocking my way,
Leaving my sleep restless with fluttering heart.
My longing is as vast as the lake,
So I have no choice but to close my eyes.
