This lovely restorative class can be practiced sitting on a chair and using another chair as a prop, or practice on your bed or your mat if you prefer.
We will make use of simple yet effective yoga asanas (stretches) held for several minutes at a time in a passive and relaxed way to help restore the body and relieve pain and symptoms caused from colds/flus/bugs and sinus related pain. If you are experiencing a lot of tension and pressure in your head be sure to modify the poses, perhaps raising your head higher with the support of an extra cushion. For the kneeling posture (modified Camel Pose) if there is any discomfort or pain in the knees, simply come out of the pose. You can either 1) hold the pose for 3-5 breaths and slowly work up to 1--2 minutes holding time over several weeks/months while also practicing yoga protocols for the knees or 2) modify the pose as suggested by sitting and simply lifting the chest or laying down on your back with a rolled blanket behind the chest, opening the heart space.
P.S Sometimes we don't feel like 'doing' yoga when we're experiencing pain AND THAT'S OKAY. Ancient yogic texts contain beautiful, empowering yogic practices, I'm specifically referring to cleansing practices, that we can do in the comfort of our own home and in the comfort of NOT STRETCHING. For sinus pain, I love using my neti pot for a sinus rinse. Other simple, natural remedies I lean on include steam inhalation, esp with Eucalyptus essential oil if available. Discovering our own practices & protocols we really empower ourselves on this healing journey knowing that whatever we are experiencing is temporary and loving ourselves enough to put in the time & effort to self-heal (which we also do automatically, because we're miraculous).
