Dr Kate Buchanan from Edith Cowan University presents on the topic 'Birth Debrief – the effectiveness of a post-birth midwife-led, woman-centred conversation with women' at the 2025 WIRF Scientific Dialogue.
Dr Kate Buchanan is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Midwifery at the Edith Cowan University School of Nursing and Midwifery, with over 20 years of clinical experience. Her research focuses on midwifery philosophy, theory and ethics, and the midwifery role in debriefing post birth. Her project evaluates a midwife-led post-birth debriefing tool to reduce perinatal depression, anxiety, and trauma in Australian women.
