According to the Government… The Founding Fathers Were Too Drunk for the 2nd Amendment

Описание: The federal government just argued at the Supreme Court that you can lose your Second Amendment rights simply for using marijuana.

This case — U.S. v. Hemani (No. 24-1234) — challenges a federal law passed in 1968 as part of the Gun Control Act that makes it a felony for an “unlawful user” of a controlled substance to possess a firearm.

During oral arguments, Justice Neil Gorsuch pressed the government on how far their theory goes, even asking whether the Founding Fathers themselves would have been disarmed under similar logic given how common alcohol consumption was in the founding era.

At the center of the case is 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3), which prohibits firearm possession for people considered unlawful users of controlled substances. Violating the statute can carry penalties of up to 15 years in prison.
