Diesel Therapy Session - First Mow With the Cub Cadet 882 (GoPro)

Описание: Back by popular demand (at least according to the poll I did last week), another GoPro mowing video....the first OFFICIAL mow with the new Cub Cadet 882. We'll call this one a "diesel therapy session"...I could listen to that Kubota D600 all day long. Sounds even better now that I turned the muffler 90° upright. Looks much better too, in my opinion.

Three weeks ago, the 882 quit cranking when I turned the key. I blamed it on the worn-out 7-year-old battery and corroded cables, and got a new Mazda Miata (8AMU1R) absorbed glass-mat battery (per request of Liam @Cunningham's Cadets), along with some 2-gauge battery cables. Also wired up a second ground cable and attached it to the rear engine lifting eyelet bolt (recommended by Cub Cadet in a 1987 service bulletin). After wiring up the new battery, it still would not crank. I just happened to find the brake pedal safety switch loose and dangling under the tractor, which explains why it would not crank over. Re-installed the brake switch, cycled the glow plugs (which now heat up much quicker with the extra ground cable), and it cranked up instantly after 3 weeks of sitting. Looks like I may not even need to do the gear-reduction starter upgrade, at least for a long while. The new OEM starter isn't as bad as I originally thought.

Before this all happened three weeks ago, I tried mowing with the tractor and ended up breaking the mower deck tensioner spring and secondary belt after about 20 minutes. After cleaning up the deck, replacing the torsion spring, pivot/shoulder bolt, and belt, greasing it, and putting a sharp set of high-lift blades on it, it was ready to mow.

Surprisingly, the 44C deck cut very well and laid down some really nice stripes. These older Cub Cadets were not known to have the best cut quality (they don't move much air), but this one did a nice job once I got the height adjusted properly. Aside from the first few hiccups, the 882 has really impressed me and I am excited to find other uses for it around the yard.
