Philip Jones (1928-2000) was a British trumpeter and leader of the internationally famous Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. Formed in 1951, the FJBE was one of the first brass ensembles working regularly as a stable group. They grew from four members to ten, and larger for special projects.
'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba' is a sinfonia originally written for two oboes and strings by George Frideric Händel. It was premiered in London on March 17, 1749, as the first scene of Act III in the oratorio 'Solomon'.
Georg Friederich Händel (1685-1759) was an English Baroque composer, well known for his operas, oratorios, anthems, concerti grossi and organ concertos.
With views of the Queen's carriage procession, London, England.
Recorded in the album 'Händel - Philip Jones Brass Ensemble' (1983).
Elgar Howarth, conductor.
