Proper identification is sporadic at best; collectors appear to be ignorant of perforations and watermarking procedures or else they deceive themselves by placing cheaper varieties in the place of scarcer stamps. This leads to a loss in value, usually reserved for the heir who has no understanding of stamp collecting in the first place.
