This part is divided into two sections.
In the first, shorter section, I'm drilling the ponsi/austina where a bronze rod will be inserted later to fasten the strings. I'm pre-drilling before carving the part for a perfect alignment and angle.
In the second section, I'm preparing the pegline. That includes the following steps:
1) Pre-drilling the peg positions to insert beech dowels. I'm progressing from small to larger drills for precision and to avoid tearing. The drills are taped to the maximum length of the tuning pins
2) Sawing the beech dowels
3) Preparing the hide glue. I'm preparing more glue at once for further steps. First time using an electric cooktop, I struggled a bit with the temperature, but in the end, the glue came out with the right consistency and strength
4) Gluing the dowels. That's messy, as hide glue has a short working time. Gladly, it is fairly easy to clean before it cures.
5) Some hours later, it's time to clean up the dowels. Sawing and tidying with a chisel.
6) Finally, I'm drilling guiding holes in the exact locations for the metal tuning pegs. I'm using a router to get perfect 90-degree angles. The drills are smaller than the tuning pegs, as there are several steps yet in the building.
