I explored Hawaii's abandoned football stadium that used to host the NFL's Pro Bowl and served as home to the University of Hawaii football team.
Located in the heart of Oahu is Aloha Stadium, a closed multi-purpose stadium that once hosted baseball, football, and concerts. It's the largest stadium in the state of Hawaii and cost $37 million to construct back in 1975.
It was shut down in 2020 after the physical condition of the stadium deteriorated rapidly, mainly caused by rust as it was built out of steel. If you don't know, salty and humid climates are awful for preventing steel corrosion. The island has plans to demolish the facility, but government issues (probably corruption) have slowed down those plans, allowing this eyesore to continue rotting in the tropical climate.
I hope you enjoy this full exploration of the iconic Aloha Stadium by drone!
