Yongsan is an area located in the center of Seoul.
It has long been a transportation hub in the history of the Korean Peninsula due to its geographical characteristics bordering the Han River.
It is said that it was a military supply base during the Joseon Dynasty.
Before the beginning of the Japanese occupation in 1910, Japanese troops began to be stationed here in 1904.
And after liberation in 1945, U.S. troops were stationed here.
In 2003, South Korea and the United States agreed to relocate the Yongsan Garrison.
From 2017 to 2019, part of the Yongsan Garrison was returned as the U.S. military stationed here moved to the provinces.
The returned place was opened to public in 2020.
However, foreigners have occupied the main point of Seoul for more than 100 years.
