Suicides often bring an awkward silence in our discussions. Whether its farmers’ suicides or suicide of an actor. We often avoid the topic, yet we realise that we cannot bypass it, given the number of people opting for death over life. In this session, Ruhaan and Gayatri will discuss the nuances of this delicate topic which demands more awareness and honest conversations.
Just as human life, human death too is a complex puzzle of the individual, the society and the state. In this session, we will understand the medical and psychological facts about suicides, we will see how the state and law in India have dealt with the issue of suicides and we will also exchange notes on the distance we need to cover to prevent suicides. Demystifying suicides is just the first step in preventing them. What is needed is a multi-sectoral approach.
Both the speakers firmly believe that each human life matters and society has a role to play as much as the individual in making each human life count.
