Описание: Situated on the banks of the River Tamar, at the very most easterly part of Cornwall, the village of Calstock, or Kalstok to give it its Cornish name, stands within the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an AONB which stretches along the Tamar Valley, covering both sides of the river, from Dunterton and Lezant in the North, to the outskirts of Plymouth and Saltash in the south.
Calstock is best known for its 120 ft tall viaduct, the twelve 60 ft wide arches of which span the River Tamar, crossing from Devon into Cornwall. The viaduct is part of the Tamar Valley Line, a branch line which runs between Plymouth and Gunnislake, which has a station at Calstock. From the top of the viaduct, there are excellent views of Calstock.
Due to it being located right on the River Tamar, Calstock is a popular place for watersports, and you'll often see people launching canoes and paddle boards from the village into the river.
In terms of its geographical location, Calstock is located 4.5 miles east of Callington, 4.5 miles south-west of Tavistock, and just over 9 miles from Plymouth city centre.
The parish of Calstock includes Gunnislake, which is the largest place in the parish. Calstock parish is bordered by the parishes of St Dominick, Callington, Stokeclimsland, and, across the River Tamar, Sydenham Damerel, Gulworthy, and Bere Ferres.
