Thokku is a way of preparing the masala mix for seafood items. Very popular in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is semi dry style of cooking, with the pan fried fish. Correct mix of ingredients in the masala makes it a mouthwatering experience. Enjoy !!!!

Recipe :-
Ingredients :-

Fish - 250 gms
To Marinate fish :-
Chili powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Fennel powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Marinate the fish in the above spices and set it aside to marinate for 10 mins.
Heat oil 2 tbsp in a pan and lightly pan fry the fish and let it cool
Masala to grind :-
Big onion - 1/2
Garlic - 4 cloves
Turmeric root - a small piece
Tomato - 1
Coriander leaves - 2 sprigs
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
Grind the above and set it aside.
To Temper :-
Oil - 4 tbsp
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
Big Onion - 2 sliced
Garlic - 6 cloves crushed
Tomatoes - 2
Curry Leaves
Tamarind extract - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Heat oil 4 tbsp in a pan and temper fennel seeds.
Then add in the crushed garlic and stir until brown.
Then add in the sliced onions and stir until translucent.
Tomatoes are added in and stir until soft and combines with the onions.
Once soft add in the ground masala and stir until raw taste is no more.
Add in the water (3 tbsp ) from rinsing the mixer.
Then add in 3 tbsp of tamarind extract and stir in . Let it simmer until oil floats.
Then add in the pan fried fish and stir until combines. Add in salt to taste.
Serve hot with rice. Enjoy !!!
