It will be the first poll since deadly anti‑corruption protests toppled the previous government in 2025. The youth-led protests were triggered by a brief social media ban. The unrest soon widened into anger over inequality, corruption and political deadlock. The campaign that has begun today will continue for two weeks, ending on March 2 at midnight. Under Nepal's election law, rallies and mass gatherings are permitted till 15 days before voting. The publication and broadcast of election material is also restricted to the same window.
