🇮🇳 India-Oman CEPA 2026 is now officially in force, giving Indian exporters unprecedented access to the Gulf region.
In this video, we break down the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and explain why it could be a game-changer for India's trade ambitions. Under the agreement, India now enjoys duty-free access on 98.08% of tariff lines in Oman, a massive jump from the previous 15.33%.
Key sectors expected to benefit include pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, textiles, electronics, and marine products, covering approximately $3.6 billion worth of Indian exports. The agreement also streamlines approvals for USFDA-approved Indian medicines, reducing approval timelines to just 90 days.
But Oman is more than a market—it is a strategic gateway. With world-class ports such as Sohar, Duqm, and Salalah, India gains stronger connectivity to the GCC countries and East Africa. The deal is expected to accelerate bilateral trade, which already stands at $11.2 billion.
Following the UAE CEPA in 2022 and ongoing negotiations with Qatar, India is steadily building a stronger economic presence across the Gulf.
