Being a series of battles fought between the free peoples of Middle-Earth and the forces of the Dark Lord Sauron, the Siege of Gondor became one of the most renowned events of the Third Age. Knowing that the heir of Isildur is marching towards the city and believing that a ring lord is soon to be revealed, the Lord of Mordor launches his war prematurely hoping to destroy Gondor before the free peoples can be united.
