Today, we're off in search of a good location to film... as luck would have it, our first choice has been barred to entry - we do not know why, but we'll move on and see if we can find something else... Our fourth attempt is fruitful and we find ourselves back in Pittenweem - on our way here, we find that the old open-air swimming pool is under renovation. It was due to open this summer after being closed for many decades, though it is now hoped that the project will complete in 2021! We'll show you how it looks when its ready - it should be remarkable!


We are on the other side of the harbour from when we filmed the Halloween Special. Among our finds is a piece of uranium glass, art-glass, and more pirate glass. This pirate glass is quite delicate, compared to many of the pieces we find. Its not much, but there are a few nice pieces - among them a few brick fragments, we found both frog and core hole bricks! All said and done, we both feel lucky we got here in daylight after our trip around four locations, in search of a good place to film! :D

Back home we pull a cracker by the Christmas Tree and Craig recounts the history of the original Christmas Crackers, made by Tim Smith in 1847. A little later, Nicole looks at one of her favorite finds ever, a glass Cracker charm from the 1920s and takes a moment to look at these charms, where they were made and what variety they came in.

We have so much to be thankful for this year. It is a year that has taken a toll on many of us, but it is the year we will remember as the year I decided to step further from my previous career as an academic anthropologist and start a youtube channel with Nicole. Within a short time, we were indebted to you all for your support, generosity, and encouragement beyond anything we could have expected... We want to take a few minutes to say thank you ALL, thank you for your support, thank you for the gifts you have given us and for the way those kindnesses have helped us to improve the quality of what we do.

Update: I am writing on 21.12.2020
There have been a few changes in Scotland recently - we continue to be in a regional lockdown. As before, this does not cause us any immediate concern as we make most of our videos without leaving Fife and we are free to travel within that area. We have been told that, as of 26/12/2020 the situation will become more strict for three weeks, though we have as yet to hear if that will limit our travel further. At present, we have several videos uploaded and scheduled - enough to see us through until the end of January. We also plan to make trips out tomorrow and on Wednesday (22nd & 23rd) which we hope, weather permitting, will provide us with content through to mid-February. We have also been looking on our doorstep and have sketched out plans for four more videos.
