In this discourse three questions have been answered by Om Swami. The questions focus on Consciousness, Dreams and Astrology.

The first question was- What is the difference between consciousness and awareness and what are the levels of consciousness.
Om Swami says that awareness is a function of the mind and without mind, there is no awareness. Further, awareness exists only in the conscious state. Consciousness operates at a higher level and can exist on its own by transcending the boundaries of the mind though from one angle consciousness too can be called a function of the mind. He says the different states of consciousness are, the sub-conscious state of mind, conscious state of mind, superconscious state of mind, and the unconscious state of mind.
In the superconscious state of mind, the consciousness and mind become one which is a state of pristine awareness and is the highest form of consciousness.
The second question was- Is there any difference between Om Swami’s dreams and the seeker’s.

Om Swami says that sadhana gave him the ability to sleep with greater awareness. He says, that he believes that if the temperature of the body rises then one tends to dream more. If one keeps the body hydrated, and cooler by breathing properly the temperature can be maintained. Sleeping at odd hours and the brain not getting rest sufficiently can also make a person dream more.

The third question asked was- What is the relationship between astrology and karma.

Om Swami says that astrology does not determine the course of one’s life and it was never intended to predict someone’s future. It was to see how the planets were impacting one’s life. Om Swami says that he believes in the power of karma(doing action). He says doing work cannot be substituted for anything. One has to do whatever they have to. He says, due to the ignorance and greed of some practitioners, this sublime science has been reduced to dust and that there is no mention of any remedial measures in the texts of astrology that can set right the problems in one’s horoscope.
