Last night [26.02.08], I had a rare experience walking through the GeGeGe no Kitaro Walking Street in Chofu, Tokyo, during a beautiful snowfall. While the rest of Tokyo was quiet, the "real side" of the city felt like a scene straight out of Shigeru Mizuki's manga.
The snow falling over the 60-year-old wooden Kitaro Chaya and the various Yokai statues (Kitaro, Nezumi-Otoko, and Medama-oyaji) created a magical, mystical atmosphere that you rarely see in the urban center.
