Nothobranchius rubripinnis / 紅粉佳人

Описание: The genus Nothobranchius originates from Africa and includes many species of small, brilliantly colored freshwater killifish. Among them, Nothobranchius rubripinnis, commonly known as the Redfin Notho, is native to Tanzania in East Africa. This species is especially admired for its vivid red fins, reflected in its scientific name rubripinnis, which literally means “red-finned.”
As with most killifish, males and females display clear sexual dimorphism. Males exhibit an eye-catching metallic blue-green sheen, most intense along the upper body and dorsal fin, and are further distinguished by striking blue rings around the eyes. Females, in contrast, are more subtly colored, typically showing soft pinkish-gray tones that provide natural camouflage.

To maintain a healthy breeding pair, the following water conditions are recommended:
• pH: 6.0 – 7.5
• Temperature: 22 – 26°C (72 – 78°F)
• Hardness (GH): 5 – 12
• Water Flow: Gentle
Adding driftwood and other hiding structures is strongly recommended, as they provide essential shelter for the female and help reduce stress caused by persistent courtship from the male. A well-structured aquarium not only improves fish welfare but also encourages natural breeding behavior.
