Game 6 starters RHP Chris Carpenter for St. Louis and RHP the Cardinals and RHP John Maine for New York as the Cardinal are just a win away to move on to the World Series against the Detroit Tigers.
Jose Reyes with a lead-off Home Run in the 1st innings gets things moving for the Mets as they are in the do or die situation in the 20006 NLCS.
John Maine has a good outing going only 5.1 innings giving up 0 runs on just 2 hits but walking 4 so Met manager Willie Randolph decides to go to the bullpen and brings in Right-hander reliever Chad Bradford to close out the inning. Mets C Paul Lo Duca with a pair of RBIs in the 7th give the Mets the 4-0 lead after 7. Met closer Billy Wagner comes in the 9th, gives up a pair of runs but holds on as the Mets tie the series and live for another day
John Maine the win and Chris Carpenter the loss
