So we all love going to the gym, or we are trying to make a lifestyle change to make it more often. These are the 4 lifting tips you need to know before your next workout! Now these tips are Matt's personal opinion and he understands some might disagree with him, that said are you going to take the word of your personal trainer at you local planet fitness or the insights of one of the best lifters to ever make it in the game? That's your decision we guess. That said we really hop you stop doing these mistakes in your workouts and can grow and become stronger, longer!!!

Matt has trained in gyms all around the world, from Golds in Venice, California, to Westside Barbell in Ohio. He knows the ins and outs of every lifting career from beginner, intermediate, to advanced lifting techniques. Most of these mistakes are some that Matt has made personally, now will he ever admit it we'll see? But for not he wants you to know that you can avoid injury by not doing/using these exercises and pieces of equipment until your body is ready. So what exactly does Matt want you to avoid you ask? Well in this video we cover leg extensions which put loads of mileage on your patella tendon/knee joint and that is the best way to get knee pain/joint deterioration. Next is a wide grip bench, now some of you are thinking "Well wide grip is used all the time by elite lifters who are trying to target specific areas." That's very true but the cost of using this technique is massive until you are using proper form and have the ability to lock your back into place while benching heavy. Next we have the classic bicep curl, but Matt knows everyone and their mother's love to use the curl for aesthetics and want to keep using them in almost every accessory workout. YOU NEEED TO STOP DOING THIS! Bicep curls hurt your ability to lift longer over your entire life, now once you get your tricep in great shape this can change but until you can safely do them you need to refrain. Lastly, Matt tells you that using shoes with a heel wedge are a big no no due to the fact that they can cause massive injury if you're not careful. So IF YOU LIFT AT ANY LEVEL try to have a flat souled shoe for lifting. Were talking for deadlifts, squats, any box step ups and all things regarding your core balance!
