Chandigarh Bird Park - Newly Opened 2021

Описание: Recently inaugurated the Chandigarh Bird Park at Nagar Van near Sukhna Lake on Tuesday. The park, built by the forest department, will open for general public today and is spread over an area of 6.5 acres of land.

The Department of Forest and Wildlife of the Chandigarh Union Territory has developed this park to create awareness about the exotic birds commonly bred in India. The park also aims to create awareness among the common people towards bird conservation, nature conservation and education.

550 exotic birds of 48 species

The park has 550 exotic birds of 48 species and boasts of a cafeteria and a souvenir shop. It has two walk-through aviaries and two small aviaries. The aviaries provide sufficient space for birds and are surrounded by thousands of plants of varying canopies. They provide an ideal habitat, food and shelter for the exotic birds. As per the reports, it is believed to be the tallest aviary for exotic birds in India.

What are the main attractions of the park?

The park provides a habitat to many species of birds such as white swan, African love birds, black swan, wood duck, budgerigars, finches, yellow golden pheasant, green wing macaw, sun conures, melanistic pheasant, which form the main attraction of the place. A special enclosure has been made for tamed birds where people will be allowed to interact with the birds in close proximity. They can also click pictures and touch the tamed birds, but under the staff's supervision. A five-minute stay would cost Rs 100.

Park timings and ticket prices

The park will open to the public from today onwards between 10AM to 5PM. It will remain closed for a day and an announcement in this regard is yet to be made. One has to pay Rs 30 for children aged between 5 and 12 years and for people above 12 years of age the price is Rs 50.
